In recognition of the critical role played by science and technology in the moviemaking process, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has honored the achievements of pioneers in these fields whose work has advanced the motion picture industry. The Scientific and Technical Awards were presented on February 7, 2009, at the Beverly Wilshire hotel. The Gordon E.
