Panasonic's new Varicam(s) Some six years after the debut of the original Varicam, Panasonic follows it up with two models sporting higher-res CCDs, P2 storage, and the new AVC-Intra 100 codec. The Varicam 3700 features full native 10-bit 1920×1080-pixel acquisition (using new 2/3in. 2.2-megapixel CCDs) and a 4:4:4 RGB dual-link live output. There's also 4:2:2 AVC-Intra 50 and DVCPRO HD recording, if you're not intent on compositing or other heavy-duty post. The Varicam 2700 uses 2/3in.
