Faster FireWire The new 1394b standard — FireWire's second generation — brings higher throughput to the plug-and-play standard. ADS Tech updates its PYRO series cards for workstations and notebooks to deliver twice the transfer speeds of the earlier 1394a standard. Both the new PYRO 1394b PCI Card and PYRO 1394b Cardbus (for notebooks) use a “true” 64-bit PCI interface to reduce data delays on the bus, as well as lowering signal distortion, which also helps deliver that higher throughput of up to the theoretical limit of 800Mbps.
