Flash XDR At NAB Show 2008, outboard camcorder recording systems using HDDs proliferated. One company going the Flash RAM route was Convergent Design; its Flash XDR employs Sony's reprogrammable MPEG-2 codec to record HD onto standard CompactFlash media. Solid-state recording offers weight and power savings, with no fan to add noise either.
